Trends of the Feather

I don't know what exactly it is about the festival of Lag BaOmer, but somehow I've always associated this bon-fire, barbecue-ing, band-of-brothers holiday  with feathers. Perhaps it's the archery...? Anyways, feathers seem to be an item. The current "it" theme. Here's a few of my favorites: Royal Icing Cookies from Cookieboy

And while I generally prefer to keep this a politics-free-zone, (after today's infuriating speech; i don't really mind making a jab!) this cartoon said it all... the (lone) feather in Obama's hat.

Also, on Good Day LA this morning Jillian was rocking the most retro sweatshirt-y top displaying a cluster of graphic scrawled feathers - was so rad!! But you would have already known that, seen the picture, and see where she got it, if you'd follow FreidaFroo on Twitter and join the party!!

two-nics

I'm currently obsessing over these free and flowy tunic designs from a new little shoppe called Two. I think these pieces are so freshly ethnic, and I'd love a few of these as summer loungewear.

Plus, they seem to be as versatile an investment as a good tee shirt (I'd love to belt a caftan and add a pair of strappy summer sandals, or slouchily tuck a baggy tunic into a skintight bondage skirt with sky-high heels)!

Also, their line of kids tee shirts feature the cutest graphics ever!!

Meet Tom

The Los Angeles Times featured an interesting article interviewing the legendary guru behind TOMS Shoes, Blake Mycoskie. While the article touches upon some of the core values of the whole "one for one" concept behind TOMS, I couldn't help but notice these neon green crocheted version of the buttery canvas kicks! Apparently these are his next steps, available next month as part of the Summer collection. I could totally live in these all summer (neon slip-ons, little white-washed jean skirts, white tees + a cruiser bike)!! It's summer bliss meets granny-chic! :)

You can learn some more about Blake and the fantabulous things he does on his blog "Start Something That Matters".
