Architects Do Accessories

Seeing a trend go 'round the globe that I absolutely love: accessories by architects. I find it simply wondrous that these fabulous, famous, and brilliant artists are bringing themselves into our living rooms, enabling us all to put a bit of their beautiful art in our everyday life - without building a modern sky-rise! I mean think about it, if it were possible, who wouldn't want want a bit of Howard Roark on their mantle?? : )

From Zaha Hadid:

1. WMF Cutlery

2. Melissa Jellies

3. Flow Flower Pots

From Frank Gehry:

1. Pito Alessi tea kettle

2. DWR cross check arm chair

3. Tiffany leaves ring

Landline Lovlies

Mid-century lovers can now get their favorite-era-fix with this home goods basic: the landline telephone. Fresh from Sweet Bella (an inconspicuous shop in Brooklyn's Bronx) comes these rotary beauties - original, and unused from the British General Post Office, circa 1950. Now matter how far along technology has come, it is still considered a serious safety precaution to have a working landline telephone in your home. Why not get one that spruces up that bookshelf or entryway with a bit of awesome Mad Men style?

My Space: Redefined

I'm so digging this foldable playspace for kids - the My Space. Pop it up and pack it up - it's playtime sans the spacial anxiety. Created by Liya Mairson, a designer who recently graduated from the Shenkar Institute for Engineering and Design. These phtotos of her cardboard playspace have been all over the web this week, so I hit her site and checked out the rest of her portfolio - she is one talented young lady ! (Have a look at her espresso+milk set. Awesome.)
