Kids go Stellar by Stella

Stella McCartney launched a beautiful little capsule-collection of kids clothing this month; the start of her own label for children. The line seems simplistic, yet edgy enough. I guess the main feature right now is the luxury-blends: cotton/cashmere etc. But I don't see anything much more special than her fantastical Gap rendezvous (hope it's not an end to that era??). Honestly, my favorite dig is the yellow boots!!

And that graphical-deer logo is pretty dope.

Collaborate, baby!

Now this is why the "collaboration thing" totally rocks!! When Gwyneth Paltrow (who was surprisingly fabulous singing at the CMA Awards last night! Watch her performance here.)  spent months in Nashville on set for the indie film "Country Strong", she had an interior decorator work with an empty, raw space and turn it into something she and her family could live in peacefully, albeit temporarily. I read about the renovations on (one of my favorite online-spots!) Goop, and spotted a Blu Dot  sofa in her children's bedroom - almost identical to our Blu Dot for Urban Outfitters find in Freida's room. Here's the catch: her's was retail for $900 vs. ours which was a BD for UO collaboration ($648) swaged on clearance for a measly $125!! Our "Benzo" has wooden legs instead of steel ones, and I'm sure the "Flat Out" is a lot more comfortable to sleep on, but there are ways to score big on design, ladies!

Dunstan Baby Language

I'm sure most of you heard of the Dunstan Baby Language by now... I first heard about it from my mother, but unfortunately never really bothered to check it out back when Freida was a newborn. Someone (thanks Rach!) just mentioned it again - I never knew her famous debut was on Oprah - and I thought I'd share the wisdom: [googlevideo=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4052428020269668962&hl=iw#]

This should definitely be added to every new-moms essential tools!! That is, in addition to (the completely amazing!!) Dr. Harvey Karp!

Heavy-Traffic Play

I saw this photo while leafing through this months Dwell magazine, and can't get over it. How ingenius to plant a "play thing" smack in middle of the living room, where everyone can see it! I think it really minimizes the play-time factor while bumping up the fluidity of a adult/child home, by incorporating some (preferably beatific, or at least well done) "toys" into the everyday layout and decor. Gives me so many wonderful ideas....

This photo is of the Orpilla/Alexander living room, new residents who moved into a 1972 home built by David Boone in Orinda, CA. You can read more about the project/home, here.

Sweet, Sweet William

Got wind of the fact that charming little Sweet William opened a brand new shop in downtown Manhattan on Kenmare off of Lafayette. What sweet news!

New York mom-to-watch, Bronagh Staley, former editor at Cookie Magazine (if you can't tell, I'm still mourning its' end...), opened the original Sweet William shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn a few years ago - featuring small and socially responsible labels this boutique offers a unique, natural, and fanciful spot to pick up children's clothing, gifts, gear, and accessories.

I've been long-time loving the fabulous collection - she simply puts together all the greatest out there - and wanted to spread the word and wish her heaps of luck at the new location:

85 Kenmare Street New York, NY 10012 212 343 7301
