On the Flash Sale Radar...

The Mini Social is brimming with heaps of goodies today! Including 3 of my most favorite children's books, some charming casual-dress clothes for boys, legendary loot by mid-century artist Charley Harper, awesome graffiti style learning via Alternative ABC's, and a collection of adorable baby threads!

If you are not a Mini Social member yet, you are now officially invited to join the party here.

Happy thrift-ing!!

Playmat: Down to Earth

Spotted these playmats over at a little online shop I just discovered called Shak-Shuka - a "stylish eco boutique for baby, child, and mama". These are by far the most useful and practical (not to mention beautifully designed!) playmats I've ever seen. Made of 100% organic cotton (hello, washing machine!) and all natural dyes, these mats are safe from infancy onward: tummy time, toddler play-animal zoology, endless train track play, imaginary autobahns, picnics in the park - heck, I'd even hang these on the wall as art!!

Tapikid Playmats $55.00

Weekend Round-up!

Wishing you all a fantastic extended weekend! Hope you manage to get up to something adventurous (even if it is just a new recipe for dinner!) with the extra free-time...

Here's some links of things I've seen this week that I've been meaning to share:

Little wooden action figures - of American Presidents!

- Those needle felted alphabet balls make for an instant heirloom + heaps of learning: letters, numbers, shades of colors...

- Did you hear the fabulous news from H&M??

- How fun would this concept be for a Purim? (Too bad my husband is hooked on being DJ Lance!)

- This has got to be the most glamorous way to jot down a mom's many little blurbs.

- This puzzle rug is pretty rad!

- Did you see the Justin Beiber Shema video? It's gone viral! Gotta be tough to have so many different "gods" to pray to. Boy, am I glad my life is simplified by having just The One.

- A modern and tangible take on the Family Tree puts it right up there on the wall!

Thankfully, the sun is peeking through those stubborn rain clouds; we plan on doing some serious outdoor shopping this afternoon, then having family dinner of spinach-pesto cheese lasagna, arugula salad, and garlic toasts. After Freida is tucked-in (and when my husband returns from playing Sunday basketball) we'll be sitting down to enjoy the new Sofia Coppola movie Somewhere (we landed a Screen Actors Guild "for your consideration" copy from a friend of a friend - all about the connections!). Enjoy your weekend!!!

LOVE Links

Wishing you all a romantic weekend! Hope you get to spend it doing lots of the things you love with the people you love!!

I spotted this print over at the Positive Posters and I think it's perfectly romantic. Plus, it makes me laugh. I've even wish-listed it for my bedroom...

Aside from that, I've seen lots of things this week worth sharing:

- 50 years of love AND marriage (through the lens of Lauren Fleishman)

- The puzzle of the broken heart

DIY "hot lips" pillow

- Another romantic typography-forward print

- Straightforwardness via a throw pillow

-  The good folks behind Anthropologie are now launching a wedding line!

- Kate Spade's charming love shout-outs (i.e. Valentine) collection

I'm so looking forward to date night tomorrow (we moved it to Monday for some extra romantics this week) - wracking my brain to think of something extra fun and unusual... Had a long day, so I'm really ready to settle in with some homemade mushroom pizza and the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards!! The lineup this year is insane! So many of my favorite things at one destination: Bob Dylan, Mumford & Sons, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mick Jagger, and heaps of fashion!!!

But first, here are some links to all the "love" themed posts from the Freidafroo files featured this time last year:

- Date Night @ the kitchen table

- Cooking can be sexy!

- Foreplay or Choreplay?

- Love via Google

- Lace + Color + Comfort

- Breaking the Date Night rut...

- Calorie-torching bedroom-worthy workout

- Multi-tasking: candlelight dinner to lights out...

Here's to the LOVE!!!

Crayon Love!

We will be making the voyage back to the Golden State this evening - with a little girl who is slightly under the weather in tow. Unfortunately it seems Freida contracted the tummy bug that was going around this neck of the woods this week... She has been sleeping off this little bout of stomach virus all day yesterday, and today as well. Not keeping much food down, but being hungry at the same doesn't can't possibly make for a pleasant mile-high toddler traveler. I was looking into changing our flight, but she doesn't have fever and I think she would love to be home in her own bed for the duration of this gnarly virus (one of my cousins had it the night after the wedding, and he said it was 24 hours flat, so here's to hoping!). Anyways, I've been gathering up my stuff from around the house, and attempting to pack back up without leaving a trail of forlorn randoms behind. I'll make a trip out to Bagel Country in a few hours to get some good grub for the dinnertime flight, and I guess I'll stop into the Hallmark shoppe next door to scavenge some cute stickers and color-ins for Freida. I happened upon one of the most adorable Etsy shops this week, and I'm wishing I had some of these to help me out in the entertainment department at 30,000 feet!

(I blogged about these famous (and overpriced) Crayon Rings a while ago, but these are actually attainable! Plus, they happen to be even cuter to boot!)

By LilDoodlers on Etsy from $10

These would make for a super-cute addition to a kids Purim basket. Sweet!

And these alphabet crayons would be such a cute party loot-bag stuffer - in each kids initial.
