Superbowl Sustenance

I think it's high time we spruce up their "classic" (artery-clogging) superbowl feast - nix some of those Trans Fats to trade for some Omega 3's! Here's a little roundup of my favorite good-for-you game-day recipes...

1) Rachel Ray's Kettle Corn

Sweet & salty popcorn that is oh-so-addictive! A tasty, healthy(er) snacking food to keep nearby for nervous-noshers throughout the game...

2) White Bean Balsamic dip from Bon Appétit

A hearty, healthy, protein-loaded chow - just call it "dip" and they'll love it! (you can skip the SD tomato oil, just drizzle some Olive Oil with a dash of oregano)...

3) Artichoke dip from Everyday Food

Best artichoke dip ever!!! Perfect with baked garlic pita chips.

4) Epicurious Salmon Burgers with Dill Sauce

Guy-friendly healthy-fare! Still finger-food enough, yet good for the heart & mind! : )

5) Martha's Hot & Sweet Chicken Wings

A simple classic recipe - wayyyy better for you then takeout!

6) Football Deviled Eggs from Southern Living

This cute idea made me smile... Sounds pretty tasty too!

Blissful Baby Records

I am a fan of the Baby-Book --- in theory. But it is so hard to actually stick to it, and follow through with all of its countless demands for time and literary journalism... I'm not saying that I don't have what to write about, I am constantly repeating tales of Freida's bravery/humor/fascination etc. to friends and family who all respond with a desperate "you must write that down!", but when it comes down to it... Baby-Books just don't seem that practical. Nikki McClure has toped them all - coming in at my #1 favorite baby journal! I always loved her quaint illustrations and tranquil artisitc outlook, but this one just takes the Baby-Book concept to the next level. It's not a keepsake for newborn hospital bands, fist pacifiers, and shrouds of worn blankies - its a chance to create an epic literary masterpiece of your child's first glorious days!

In the News... iPad Unveiling

Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled Apple's new gizmo: the iPad. At $499 this device allows us to surf the Web, read e-books, watch movies/tv shows, download apps, etc. all while on the go. Jobs gushed about it being "magical", and I may just have to agree... I know there is a whole lot of talk circulating the "need" of such a gadget, but I think this is a mom's dream invention (can't stop thinking of ways this would make our job easier!), I mean most people buy laptops (hiked up way higher than $500) and use them for four things only: internet, music, movies, and pictures! So I don't see the iPad as "ridiculous" at all (okay, aside from it's awkward name - I was rooting for iTab), in fact I must admit that I can definitely see this becoming the next big thing - owned by people the world over...  Read more about it here.
