Animals 101

Here's one of our new favorites, The Elephant Song by Eric Herman and the Invisible Band. Kudos to this wonderfully silly, and incredibly simplistic graphical creation - artistic and creative perfection on all fronts, Mr. Herman! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yihq8BIhL9c&feature=related]

Origami Gone Wild

Remember these hot little owls that I posted about in the fall? This month, Mibo brings to life a new collection by Madeline Rogers, the Wild Bunch. Standing at up to 5½″ tall, each of these animals takes about 10 minutes to complete - and all you need is a computer printer, scissors, a ruler, and some glue. Perfect as an extra activity to have on hand...

H20 on the Go

These Vapur® water "bottles" are apparently the hottest thing since Sigg's. Actually, they are way hotter than Sigg's - taking up no room when empty! Their makers brag them to be: reusable, attachable, identifiable, freezable, cleanable, and foldable. Made from ultra-durable BPA-Free polymer, these foldable canteens are dishwasher and freezer safe. They stand up straight when full, and fold up teeny-tiny when empty; providing us all with a super-convenient way to stay just a bit greener... Mom's are bound to love these lil' liquid gadgets - perfect for stashing in diaper bags, glove compartments, lunch boxes, strollers, clutches, evening bags etc. Don't you just love when people go out of their way to make our lives easier?? : ) Stay hydrated this summer and keep the fluids flowing!

You can get some on their website for $8.95.

Headscarf Heaven

I don't know about you, but I have a drawer full of colorful, designer silk scarves that I honestly never wear. I bought them all before I was married, thinking I'd put them to lots of good use with a pair of designer shades, some hoop earrings, and a good bag. I wasn't yet versed in the ins-and-outs of covering my hair... the fact that due to its slip-off texture, silk is quite useless. Well, that was then. Now I have to say, headscarf lovers - rejoice!

Last week, my sister-in-law (thanks Rivky!!) gave me something she wanted me to try; a WiGrip. To be quite honest, I can't say I would have tried it had it not been handed to me. I know it looks rather superfluous (why on earth would we want to add another layer to our already annoyingly covered heads??), but this little number totally and completely rocks!! I reluctantly tried putting it on under a tichel (I usually use bobby-pins to keep them in place), and when I realized how well it works, I whipped out all my silk numbers and got totally turban-happy! I've been having so much fun playing around with all these different looks, prints, and designs. I've been creatively inspired since the Prada turbans walked the runways a few years ago, and more recently by SJP's turban-do in SATC2... so happy to finally have more than two style options when skipping the wig! : )

This WiGrip is fantastic under anything you'd like to keep in place (I wore a silk scarf to the playground with Freida yesterday, and felt like I had nothing on. Even through all our roughhousing, I swear the thing didn't move an inch!). But it was essentially formated to be used under a wig, negating the need for clips and combs - providing more comfort and fewer hair-thinning zones...

You can get one at Milano Collection for $20.

Designer Diapers

Even Huggie's Denim has got nothing on these potty pants!

It seems Pampers has teamed up with Cynthia Rowley in a collaboration-concept that has never been seen before: designer does disposable. Pampers by Cynthia Rowley will be available in 11 colorful styles (for boys and girls) beginning mid July at Target stores and on Target.com. The diaper collection will be available in pastel designs including madras, stripes and printed ruffles. Rowley was quoted as having said "As a mom, I wanted other moms and dads to have more options in every part of their lives -- even diapers. It's the first piece of clothing your baby will ever wear, and it should be special."

Well, I'm down with that. Come to think of it - as much as I do love the furry little guy - it is high time that Elmo stops being the first thing to greet me in the morning - at the changing table... Diaper-duty just got a whole lot more fun.

Here's a sneek peek at some of the girl/boy designs.
