I've been browsing through some family photos trying to remember the table arrangement we used for last years Shavuot luncheon. Looking at these I remembered the lovely use of short-florals! I have a serious aversion to flower arrangements that inhibit cross-table conversation, and though I consider myself rather flower-happy, I'm not too keen on sticking a vase of flowers in middle of a dinner party table (no matter how beautiful they may be). Last Shavuot I sent my husband on one last errand - to Trader Joes for Peonies (I stopped going anywhere else for my flower-fix). I scavenged the house for "bud vases" landing happily on a collection of colorful espresso cups, and with just a few easy snips I placed the huge peony buds in the little cups filled with water and scattered them throughout the tables. It added an enormous amount of charm to the decor without overwhelming the setting. Simple and minimalist - I think flower buds are usually your best bet for table-top arrangements.

Pesach on the mind means noticing things that may have otherwise skipped my radar : )
Just remembered this great set of plastic flatware! Another unique product from Kikkerland, this polycarbonate 12 piece set comes in white, pink, or this hottly chic black. Re-usable and dishwasher safe - this is the perfect pre-pesach purchase for those of you who plan on entertaining (or hosting pesach for the first time), but would rather not invest in a full new flatware set. You can throw it out (guiltfree) if it gets kind of gnarly, or you can can be super thrifty and stow away for your next holiday/entertaining venture! A great find to keep bookmarked for birthday parties, sheva brachos etc. Check it out!!

Happened upon this super-awesome article from Parenting Magazine; 30 DIY Birthday Cake Designs! Love these sort of findings, thank you people at Parenting for making life as a mom (with countless birthday party pressure on!) that much easier : )
Here's a few of my favorites...

(How adorably simplistic is that Lego cake?? They say to use a Jolly Rancher candy - but you can use half of a large sized marshmellow and cover it with the cake frosting!)
Thought I'd share this great little plastic plate that you can pick up at Target for 94¢ - it was featured for Valentines day, so it's on clearance. Really cute though, and the colors are muted so it doesn't stick out like a kids plastic eye-sore : )
Photographed this; what was on Freida's plate when she started spitting out her food (she generally spits out food when she is done/full), this was after 2 bites of her favorite breakfast! Nothing more aggravating for a mom than working on a meal for your little loved one only to have them spit it out repeatedly, refusing to consume a bit! This is how breakfast, lunch, and dinner go in our household from the time she starts teething until that little tooth breaks...!! We're currently just over the upper fangs, dreading the lower ones that are evidently coming closer each day, and trying to figure out a way to get some sustanance into her tiny little body during the teething process...!
