Last week Freida and I cut open some pomegranates we picked up at the local Farmer's Market, took out some seeds to munch on, squeezed out some juice to taste, and went on to break out the paintbrushes and water color paper and surprisingly created some of the most beautiful red-tinged magenta strokes of color. The juice paintings dried so wonderfully - leaving behind a sheer glossy laquer (likely due to the fruit juice's sugar content), and Freida was totally blown away by the concept of painting with juice. Her vocalized amazement went like this, "I can't wait to show this art to Daddy! He won't believe we didn't use ANY paint to make it!".

Give caramel apples a bajillion times more character this holiday by using naturally rustic twigs instead of sticks. Looks especially awesome if you can find some with leaves still intact!
Found this deliciously edible ode to the autumn season here.

Totally looking forward to trying out this recipe for "challah poppers" for a modern and updated round Rosh Hashanah bread!

Can't hardly believe the heat today!! So much for happily heading into autumn...
After a cooler-than-usual Sunday at the beach, and a sudden torrential downpour Sunday evening, I seriously thought the summer heat waves have made their way out yonder. But standing over my kitchen elements today - with no window breeze whatsoever! - frying up Zucchini Fritters with Freida forced me into freezer fest oblivion. Gone were thoughts of garlic spiked sour cream dolloped onto a neat little stack of hot crispy fritters! I dived head first into the cooler treats below freezing; we're now moving on from paper popsicles to their actual frozen forms - retro stylin'.
Best ice pop molds ever.

Stay chilly, my friends.
