Headscarf Heaven

I don't know about you, but I have a drawer full of colorful, designer silk scarves that I honestly never wear. I bought them all before I was married, thinking I'd put them to lots of good use with a pair of designer shades, some hoop earrings, and a good bag. I wasn't yet versed in the ins-and-outs of covering my hair... the fact that due to its slip-off texture, silk is quite useless. Well, that was then. Now I have to say, headscarf lovers - rejoice!

Last week, my sister-in-law (thanks Rivky!!) gave me something she wanted me to try; a WiGrip. To be quite honest, I can't say I would have tried it had it not been handed to me. I know it looks rather superfluous (why on earth would we want to add another layer to our already annoyingly covered heads??), but this little number totally and completely rocks!! I reluctantly tried putting it on under a tichel (I usually use bobby-pins to keep them in place), and when I realized how well it works, I whipped out all my silk numbers and got totally turban-happy! I've been having so much fun playing around with all these different looks, prints, and designs. I've been creatively inspired since the Prada turbans walked the runways a few years ago, and more recently by SJP's turban-do in SATC2... so happy to finally have more than two style options when skipping the wig! : )

This WiGrip is fantastic under anything you'd like to keep in place (I wore a silk scarf to the playground with Freida yesterday, and felt like I had nothing on. Even through all our roughhousing, I swear the thing didn't move an inch!). But it was essentially formated to be used under a wig, negating the need for clips and combs - providing more comfort and fewer hair-thinning zones...

You can get one at Milano Collection for $20.

P.S. Check out Katie Cruise rockin' our look!

Wee-little Westwoods

I've recently grown fond of the Vivienne Westwood + Melissa shoes. Had my first sighting while browsing for some kicks on Zappos, and they've been on my wish-list ever since (haven't yet justified buying plastic heels... but I've been living in a pair of plastic gladior sandals that I got at (cough, cough) Forever 21 for $5 - and I'm loving them!). And as if those creations weren't cute enough, Melissa and Viv had to go and procure chic-baby-status with the launch of baby shoe line. The "Mini Melissa", a shrinky-dink from two of Westwood’s popular Anglomania designs: the Lady Dragon Bow and Lady Dragon Heart, are sure to emit squeals of delight from Mommy-and-Me lovers (hello, Katie Cruise). Made from Melissa Plastic Dream's famous PVC  breathable plastic; you gotta admit these little toe-tappers came a long way from Crocs. : )

Now, to burst your bubble: they are a ridiculous $100 ($45 less than the adult version?) a pop - but they are so spankin' adorable I wanted to share the cuteness...

Lips by Tom Ford

Ladies, Tom Ford is doing lips. This month under his Private Blend label, the design mogul known for his stupendous turnaround of the Gucci Group's assets and of course for his own design label, has unveiled his signature lipstick line. And while not many girls are likely to pay-up for a simple tube of lipstick, Ford fans (who understand that this man - delivers!) are going wild. A palette of 12 "perfect" lip colors, scented with chamomile, packed with the purest of pigment, and utterly creamy - thanks to loads of Brazilian murumuru butter. His ivory, gold-rimmed case creation is classic and heavyweight; a tribute to our grandmothers - the way they'd open an ornate case, spin out the bullet, and paint their pout was so, i don't know, glamourous. So not lip-gloss. As mothers, we all know how tough it can be to consistently look put-together on the go - but a good lipstick is all a girl needs. One coat and we're dressed. Thanks for the help Tom. Private Blend Lip Color, $45.00

Idiot-proof Pancakes

Came across this frying pan while browsing for some Fathers Day gifts... I think this pan should be called man-proof. Perfect pancakes every time - great for our mornings off (what? Your husband never offers to wake up with the kids and bring you pancakes in bed??) - or an easy morning on. Plus, this would definitely be payback for all the gifts they give us that are really for them (just think back...) : )

Alright, fine; not the greatest way to gift them on their day of honor, but an awesome gadget to have on hand for cooking with (older) kids in the kitchen.

Silver Dollar Pancake Pan, Crate & Barrel $29.95

Wanted to share an awesome "flash sale" website with all my readers. Geared towards the Mom race, Totsy offers brand-name kids clothing, toys, gear, and mom-goods at ridiculously reduced prices! Attempting to remain exclusive and not be tainted by an overdose of popularity (which would result in sell-outs before the first hour of sale), Totsy tried to remain an invitation-only website for a while, but membership can be requested now. All FreidaFroo readers can enter the Totsy-hood by clicking on the (linked) icon above. Happy thrifting, ladies!
