Breakfast in Bed: for Dummies or Dads

On my birthday morning I was graced with a little bed & breakfast luxury: a tray of deliciousness delivered by my little lady - still sporting her jammies and a very toothy grin, balancing wobbling a tray of stacked waffles, cream, and berries + a plastic wine goblet filled with OJ.

I was a little shocked at the culinary display in this birthday breakfast, mostly because they were waffles (we don't even own a waffle maker), and more importantly because they were genuinely good waffles! When I finally got the secret out of the man with the plan, I figured I'd share the goodness here. My sister in law (thanks Rivky!!) is super-amazing at finding the most random of kosher items - she fine combs all the fine print in search of a kosher symbol on packaging I'd never even think to pick up! She somehow discovered these pre-packaged Kosher Belgian Waffles at Ralphs! (Certified Kosher Pareve and Pas Yisroel).

Initially I figured that the pre-packed single-sell version of anything baked must be despicably unhealthy (think Twinkie), but as it turns out, these just happen to be popular due to their healthy(er) ingredient list (unbleached flour, non-hydrogenated oils etc.). Pretty sweet for a store-bought treat! Plus, it's a devious and genius plan for a Mother's Day brunch by a kitchen-illiterate daddy.

Anyways, we enjoyed them.

Cheers! To getting 2 mornings off in one week (I hope!!) :)

Spring Finger

I so love this time of year: purging the bathroom drawer of cloudy gray, muted plums, and too-deep red shades of nail polish. They were beautiful, and they served me well through winter; but now it's time to shine! Can't wait to stock up on these new $6 neon nail lacquers from American Apparel! Aside from the sheer fun of rainbow-on-steroids nail color, you wouldn't believe how exciting neutral get-ups (hello, summer khaki!) can get when paired with neon crazy finger-tip color!

Weekend Round-up!

So glad to be wishing you a glorious spring weekend!! Here in our neck of the woods the temperature spiked to 90° (!!), and then dropped low again with an even drizzle... Weather's gone bipolar! Hopefully we'll be hitting the beach sometime in the next few weeks for the start of our Sunday-by-the-ocean-season. For now, we are enjoying (albeit interruptedly!) the freshness of the first of spring sunshine.

This weekend Freida is experiencing her first "sleepover". Her best-buddy-cousin Zali is joining us on his own for 2 days, and so far they've been a double delight! Zali has 3 older rambunctious brothers and I was curious to witness the many ways I'd see that difference in reference to Freida being a dainty only one in this family. For about an hour after we brought the little guy to settle in our apartment, I hardly heard a peep from either of them as they played sweetly (yes, I was spying) at the play-kitchen in Freida's room. After the first 30 minutes I decided to go in and check out the progress. There they stood, side by side, each holding a lid on a pot resting on the play-kitchen elements. Freida called out for me to, "taste my soup, Mama?" while Zali held the lid tight and declared with wide-eyes, "I caught a frog!". There you have it folks; a little boy and little girl. :)

Here are some things I've been meaning to share with you this week:

- The epitome of a simple + chic spring outfit.

- Most depressing thing I've come across all week.

- Liberty of London + Nike? Yes, please!

- Things like this not only make me sick, but force me to side with the feminists movement.

- #1 reason for needing a knitting lesson: this hat!

I could live in these shoes all summer long!

Supremely adorable music video for Kate Spade Collection.

Happy Spring Sunday!!!
