Green Eggs and Pam

In honor of the birthday of Theodor Geisel -the madman-genius who is Dr. Seuss, (and for Mimi who let me in on that super-random, super-notable fact!), I'll share a kosher-kitchen recipe inspired by his most non-kosher of books. Green Eggs and Pam (well, technically it's not even real "pam", just extra virgin olive oil from a Misto spray bottle) came to me when I was a single workin'-girl, at home in Chicago for 24 hours for a friends wedding, and famished/hungover at about 4am in my mother's cook-tempting kitchen. Out came the eggs, the skillet- the pesto! It's not a recipe so much as a revelation... Whisk eggs with a generous dollop of pesto; scramble, fry, or poach your way to savory-breakfast perfection! Garnish with flecks of goat cheese, feta, or even parmesan.

Plus, once we're on the Seuss subject, I'll leave you with some loony links I love:

1. Best graduation gift ever!

2. Cartoon + Converse Collaberation

3. Vintage Seuss Onesies

4.  A totally rad Purim getup - for 2!

5. Seuss-inspired furniture

6. Ever seen a Hebrew Wocket?

Happy Birthday to the man who encourages our children to "Hop on Pop" - which is especially helpful in the early morning!

Playmat: Down to Earth

Spotted these playmats over at a little online shop I just discovered called Shak-Shuka - a "stylish eco boutique for baby, child, and mama". These are by far the most useful and practical (not to mention beautifully designed!) playmats I've ever seen. Made of 100% organic cotton (hello, washing machine!) and all natural dyes, these mats are safe from infancy onward: tummy time, toddler play-animal zoology, endless train track play, imaginary autobahns, picnics in the park - heck, I'd even hang these on the wall as art!!

Tapikid Playmats $55.00

Weekend Round-up!

Wishing you all a fantastic extended weekend! Hope you manage to get up to something adventurous (even if it is just a new recipe for dinner!) with the extra free-time...

Here's some links of things I've seen this week that I've been meaning to share:

Little wooden action figures - of American Presidents!

- Those needle felted alphabet balls make for an instant heirloom + heaps of learning: letters, numbers, shades of colors...

- Did you hear the fabulous news from H&M??

- How fun would this concept be for a Purim? (Too bad my husband is hooked on being DJ Lance!)

- This has got to be the most glamorous way to jot down a mom's many little blurbs.

- This puzzle rug is pretty rad!

- Did you see the Justin Beiber Shema video? It's gone viral! Gotta be tough to have so many different "gods" to pray to. Boy, am I glad my life is simplified by having just The One.

- A modern and tangible take on the Family Tree puts it right up there on the wall!

Thankfully, the sun is peeking through those stubborn rain clouds; we plan on doing some serious outdoor shopping this afternoon, then having family dinner of spinach-pesto cheese lasagna, arugula salad, and garlic toasts. After Freida is tucked-in (and when my husband returns from playing Sunday basketball) we'll be sitting down to enjoy the new Sofia Coppola movie Somewhere (we landed a Screen Actors Guild "for your consideration" copy from a friend of a friend - all about the connections!). Enjoy your weekend!!!

The Roots: In Print

You don't necessarily have to like (or even watch) Yo Gabba Gabba (though I can't imagine why you wouldn't!)  in order to fall for this lovely printed poster! I find it so amazing how certain things just totally take off and become iconic; there are so many "Super Music Friend Show's" throughout all the Yo Gabba seasons, yet the Roots somehow completely nailed it!!

Room for Boys

I generally get a pretty nice amount of feedback requesting more boy-related finds and topics. The truth is, I suppose I do blog too much about actual things/gear/designs for Freida... but honestly, that what makes this fun for me; I'm not out there looking for random nifty/thrifty finds to fill up my blog - I post about things that have actually caught my attention! That said, these wall decals for BOYS totally caught my eye. There's really not much out there in the mainstreams that veer from the typical (and mostly cheesy) sports-themed or superhero-paraphernalia-laden boys rooms, so this should come as quite a breath of fresh air. They're charming, whimsical, and macho! (Who said girls have all the fun??) Wall Decals by 41 Orchard, from $40
