What the Nook?!

Everyone seems to be going gaga over this crib mattress - the Pebble by Sleep Nook. Yes, the colors are hotness, and the design is superfluously eye-pleasing. But just read the write-up and weep... (It sounds like we are raising aliens: "The removable surface layer of the Nook Pebble mattress employs a patented asymmetrical design and nano-level technology to maximize breathability. Air flows in valleys between pebbles creating an oxygen-rich crib environment while surface fibers with nano-technology prevent liquids from seeping into the mattress for easy-wipe clean up." Nano what what?)

I happen to be one to cave for excessive features and bells and whistles... but this? Yeah, I loosened the baby budget belt a bit and went for an all-organic-fiber crib mattress (allergies are genetic!), but seriously who markets a mattress for $550? It's a mattress. And all that funky design (I'll give credit where it's due) will be covered up by the crib sheet!

P.S. If you're still feeling the love - buy the pebble wrap and cover your own baby mattress. : )

Happy Summer!!

It's official! Summer has landed...

(Although, from the looks of things outside - you'd honestly never know it. Someone please tell them to stop giving the November forecast! )

Hope that bucket-list is ready for a tackle!! I'm most looking forward to spending each and every Sundays on Huntington Beach, fresh & local Farmers Market dinners, and heaps of daily sunshine, homemade fruit pops, water chalk, and giant bubbles on the front lawn with Freida.

So grateful to be living on a coast - there's nothing quite like a summer spent at the Ocean!

Happy Summer, Mamas!

In Daddyland

Happy Sunday everyone, hope your Fathers Day is full of love and laughter... and good eats (we all know that's what matters to 'em)!

I posted a great recipe for Challah French Toast on the FreidaFroo Facebook Page. (If you're a reader and not yet a fan, just letting you in - I often post things (links, videos, snippets etc.)  there that I don't post here on the blog... so join the party and "like" it!) If you're skipping the late brunch and you're more of a dinner family, check out some of the other wonderful recipes on the Epicurious Fathers Day Menu.

On a side note, the kiddos are bound to be super stoked for Toy Story 3 this weekend... The reviews were fabulous, check them here. I'll tell you this; if Freida was of age we'd be joining the throngs at the movies today, kudos to Pixar (and Disney, I suppose). Maybe my man and I will see it on date-night - I won't deny we're kid-movie-lovers! : )

I see London, I see France.....

When I was kid I was gymnastic-obsessed! I'd get in the mood and breakout the backwalkovers - anytime, anywhere... to my mother's horror. During the year it wasn't that bad, there were tights and leggings going on under my pleated uniform skirt (i also became quite the pro at tucking the bottom hem of the skirt into the waistband; making knickers-on-the-spot), but when summer came 'round....... Here's to you Moms with the tomboys who can't stop climbing trees, or the girly-girls who live for doing handstands:

Girls Boxers from Claesen's

Glass (baby) Bottles

I meant to post about these a little while back... after Freida's self-weaning episode. When the reality of an end to the breast-feeding days hit me, I realized I had to transition my little suckler onto bottles (after seeing that going straight to a sippy cup of milk didn't have the same relaxing effect I still felt she needed). Remembering my baby gear "essentials" shopping list, I opened up my storage boxes labeled "newborn", and happily rummaged through things a bit until I pulled out my Weego glass baby bottles. I was so glad to finally put them to use!

These bottles seriously kick! The borosilicate glass (aside from being much more sanitary than plastic) is completely shock proof, enabling it to go from freezing (food/breast milk storage) to boiling (sanitizing). The silicone sleeve makes it easy to grip, hard to break (never mind super good looking)! You can buy airtight plugs (for freezer storage), and solid baby bottle caps - turning your baby bottle into a chic little beverage bottle (perfect sized for my purse)!
