Petting-Zoology

I had wanted to take Freida to a petting-zoo all month, for her to see a pre-processed shofar up close - on the ram. Got around to it this weekend, and I guess it worked out well coming after Rosh Hashanah, she really got the point. There's just something so special to me about kids exploring animals; wild or domesticated, zoo, farm, or neighborhood - there seems to be so much innocence and natural compassion in the way children feed, pet, and interact with them...

Lunch-ability!

Back to week-2 of school, new-classroom-jitters, and lunch packing pandaemonium - for most mothers with preschoolers. I've been getting heaps of "school lunch" questions, and referral-requests for good packing ideas to make lunch a bit more fun and a lot more enticing. I've stumbled upon a fantastic little lunch blog called Another Lunch, and it is the perfect place for bumping up the sandwich/snack inspiration!

I'm by no way implying that all you busy mamas are meant to have the time (or patience!) to cut out, stack, size, design, and decorate your childs everyday lunch; just that these images and ideas + a little imagination can make for much more interesting lunchables.

But before joining this lunch-party - you got to get on the trendy bandwagon; better known as: The Bento Lunch Box. It's a theory. A method. A current wave of hipster lunch packing, and it's the basis of Another Lunch blog. But first you've got to get yourself a form of a "bento", my favorite is the Goodbyn.

Happiest New Year Wishes!!

I hope your holiday was super special and filled with family, friends, and food!

Wishing all you mamas out there a happy and healthy new year! Wishing you a year that brings only joy, success, and fulfillment - to each of you respectively. May this year bring you pure serenity - in mind, body, and soul... a year of health, wealth, and happiness. A year of achievement; success in all you set out to accomplish. And most of all, a bountiful year of motherly nachas!

This play shofar was the easiest DIY ever. It's cut out of felt, glue gun-ed, stuffed with cotton balls, and a party blower top. Brought heaps of fun to my little toddlers Rosh Hashanah interpretation. : )

A is for Apple

Day 1 in the Pre-K classroom: seamless. Love being with all those happy, creative, and wonderful little people! I forget how much I love the classroom. The looks on their faces when they get it; the way their eyes light up with wonder...

Being a classroom got me thinking about letters. Be it Aleph-beis or Alphabet, the skill of recognition is integral to education. "Old school, meet new school", is the tagline used for a fabulous new app for kids. I thought once we were already on the Montessori subject, I'd mention the installation of these Montessori apps - to current moms, they're all the rage! Intro to Letters is an app based on the Montessori activity known as Sand Paper Letters, these activities utilize sight, sound, and touch - helping your child learn the letters, as well as the correct method of creating them. Also available is their older release, Intro to Math (which I haven't personally seen, but I'm sure it's just as marvelous!). Something about their overall design is just so visually beautiful. Kudos, Montessorium!
