Sparkler photos are such a fun way to celebrate the 4th of July!

What are you up to this weekend? I've been breathing in some fresh free air - I have a week or two in between work projects and it feels so good to have no deadlines this week and just to take it slow and easy... On the other hand, in my free time I've been thinking about and chalking up some "family goals" for the summertime (give Freida swimming lessons, start Hudi on solids, lose 10 pounds, sleep-train both girls etc.), and while it's lots like a bucket list - it's not nearly as much fun, and much, much more rewarding. While I take a break from thinking about goals, here are a few things I thought you might enjoy:
- Do you watch Parks and Recreation? I just love Amy Poehler!!
- This totally made me laugh!
- The cutest DIY play kitchen ever!!
- Taking color-wheels for granted...
- How genius are Tube toys?
- I'm smitten by dots.
- 50 shades of fabulous :)
- Hoping Freida goes for Gazpacho - summer lunch at it's best!
- What guy wouldn't love to entertain with these as cocktail kickers?
Anyways, enjoy your weekend - hope it's filled with heaps of summer-y promise!
P.S. There is no ice cream in town better than this guy's! I swear - you'll be in old-school creamery heaven!
Talking about my sister, I've been meaning to share a rather surprisingly entertaining baby toy with you. Right after Hudi was born Shterni drove out here to see the new little lady and recrute my mom to Arizona. She came with a bag full of goodies - for me, Freida, the baby, the house - but one of her gifts struck gold in baby-land: this crinkle toy. Hudi has been in awe of the thing ever since I started strapping it to the side of her car seat or stroller - she's mesmerized. It even brought about her first coo! The baby-love equation is easy: a simple square of fabric filled with crinkly material, a velcro strap for a pacifier (i use it to attach the toy to a baby link), a bright-colored button to fiddle with, and a strip of tag-like knotted fabric to suck on, bite on, or simply grab. Turns out, Kathe Kruse is kind of a baby toy whisperer. Also, I love how the embroidered pattern is so design-y. Most kids toys look like bulky, fun, and outrageusly ugly; this one looks like a sample of Missoni fabric!!
I can't imagine a baby not liking this - makes a great baby gift!!
P.S. Don't you love how Hudi's fat baby legs make the perfect spot to stash Freida's sipster?? :)
Was going to post about some other things this week, but you know when there's just something on your mind taking over all your energies? I'm so excited I just can't contain myself!! My dear sister Shterni gave birth to a beautiful baby girl!!! I'm so overjoyed for her and her family, and I'm just dying to jump in the car and trek out to meet my new little niece! Funny I had just written some musings on having a sister, and I'm so happy for my 9-year-old niece that after 2 brothers she finally has a sister!! Also, I've been thinking about how interesting it must be to have a girl after two boys, or vice versa. I just can'y imagine my sister going all girly!! :) I've been browsing the plethora of beautiful children's goods on the internet this morning - to help out in that department... ha! Anyways, how ridiculously cute is this crocheted pompom hat?? Fun place to start!
These firecracker popsicles are a perfect post-barbecue treat for a balmy 4th of July night spent gossiping with family and friends while waiting for the firework show to commence. Plus, they sounds like bright, tart, and fresh deliciousness!
