One Last Summer Scoop

best ice cream scooper So! The end of August is a little lad to be sharing Summer tips, but I've only just discovered the very best ice cream scooper EVER. And I figured I'd share the joy of deliciously delectably just-soft-enough scoops of summer-y goodness, for you to savor the last little bits of the ice cream season.

You may have heard of the $20 Zeroll ice cream scoop. Well, this is it's knockoff. And while I feel bad for the awesome folks at Zeroll for coming up with the most genius ice cream invention since the waffle cone only to have it ripped off and sold for under 5 bucks, I'm happier that someone actually did knock it off and bring perfect scoops of ice cream to the masses. The idea is this: the scooper is made of cast aluminum and is filled with self-defrosting fluid in the handle. Just by holding the handle, you're warming up the liquid and when you turn it upside down to scoop... well, the proof is in the pudding ice cream.

We've been eating way too many ice cream cones around here since I bought this amazing little kitchen gadget! It may just be the best $5 you'll ever spend. Get one here.

Disney Princesses on #Instagram

princess freida Freida has definitely been bitten by the queen bee recently. She's all aflutter with talk of princesses, castles, knights, and kisses. She was always overtly girly and perpetually in a tutu, but this princess-y thing is pretty new around here. Her library book selections went from "How to Do Gymnastics" to "Rapunzel", and she's been begging to watch clips of Disney Princesses, and even created her own "mitzvah charts" to win a trip to Disney Land! : )

I found this #disneyprincessesoninstagram series this weekend and i laughed so hard,  my coke zero almost messed up my keyboard. Check it out:

How hilariously spot-on?? You can see the whole series on Mashable.

Cooler Tights for Warmer Legs

funky legs As the start to the school year comes a creepin' up, and thoughts of holiday dinners and chilly evening Sukkos meals start cropping up on my radar, I start browsing around for warmer hybrid winter wear. Items that can add a layer of warmth without too much heat. Tights/leggings and hats are always my top go-to accessorize for warming up the kids. In California we can't just transfer to winter wardrobes just yet (nor any time at all for that matter!) because the daytime hours bring with them so much warm sunshine! We need pieces that we can pull on in the morning, whip off a few hours later, and stick on again in the evening... That said, leggings and tights are really imperative to the change of seasons. And these tights by Funky Legs totally caught my eye!! How cute??

PogoMix

pogo music Recently, we've all kind of been obsessing with Pogo Music Productions around here. It all started with Mary Poppins. Freida heard some kids talking about the movie at camp one day, and came home asking to watch Mary Poppins "the funny babysitter". I didn't really have any interest in letting her watch that film yet (she's not really up to feature length films, she's seen maybe two Disney classics and didn't even make it through those without getting bored halfway in), so I thought I'd show her some clips of "the funny babysitter". While searching around a bit online for a good clip, what jumped out at me immediately was this Mary Poppins "remix". It kept coming up, so I realized it must be some kind of new fad or internet phenomenon, and I was totally blown by the creativity! PogoMix is basically some dude who is a downright genius when it comes to capturing and mixing sounds, and we've been moving to his music all month long! We turn them up in the afternoon after Freida comes home from camp, and we all go nuts dancing to the beats and laughing from the "mix" sounds. It was particularly awesome to show Freida how the mixing is done - she's such a little sponge, and her creativity radar is spot-on. She loved the concept of capturing sounds (perhaps this will be her newest career choice - after Tattoo Designer, and Grove Performer :)), and was fascinated by the fact that you can make music using anything! She asked a bajillion questions about it, so I let her watch the video About Pogo. If you and your brood are into music, or you have a son or daughter interested in DJ/mixing/producing definitely introduce them to the sounds of Pogo.
