Dessert + Music in the Morning

After being inspired from all the incredible music on the Awards show last night, I decided to spice up the morning and give my husband a little love for his morning commute: I made him a mix-tape (well, technically it was a CD, but I can't bring myself to call it a "mix-cd" - it's just wrong). I downloaded this super-rad CD sleeve by Dandee Designs, and burned it with a few of our favorite love songs. We had a wonderful little morning - nothing more fun than dessert at breakfast (and Freida enjoyed scribbling up those little hearts so early in the morning)! :)

LOVE Links

Wishing you all a romantic weekend! Hope you get to spend it doing lots of the things you love with the people you love!!

I spotted this print over at the Positive Posters and I think it's perfectly romantic. Plus, it makes me laugh. I've even wish-listed it for my bedroom...

Aside from that, I've seen lots of things this week worth sharing:

- 50 years of love AND marriage (through the lens of Lauren Fleishman)

- The puzzle of the broken heart

DIY "hot lips" pillow

- Another romantic typography-forward print

- Straightforwardness via a throw pillow

-  The good folks behind Anthropologie are now launching a wedding line!

- Kate Spade's charming love shout-outs (i.e. Valentine) collection

I'm so looking forward to date night tomorrow (we moved it to Monday for some extra romantics this week) - wracking my brain to think of something extra fun and unusual... Had a long day, so I'm really ready to settle in with some homemade mushroom pizza and the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards!! The lineup this year is insane! So many of my favorite things at one destination: Bob Dylan, Mumford & Sons, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mick Jagger, and heaps of fashion!!!

But first, here are some links to all the "love" themed posts from the Freidafroo files featured this time last year:

- Date Night @ the kitchen table

- Cooking can be sexy!

- Foreplay or Choreplay?

- Love via Google

- Lace + Color + Comfort

- Breaking the Date Night rut...

- Calorie-torching bedroom-worthy workout

- Multi-tasking: candlelight dinner to lights out...

Here's to the LOVE!!!

A Plain White T

Finally catching a glimpse of some rays in the sky this morning... So excited for some sunshine - so very tired of living indoors! For now, Freida is busy tip-toe dancing around the coffe table to this Sesame Street cover of Plain White T's:

she really must learn how to rewind the DVR by herself... :)

Spotlight on: Peter Himmelman

Around here we've recently been enjoying music from Peter Himmelman. Especially his My Green Kite album! As a son-in-law, it's not like he's actually related to Bob Dylan - but the life of his music is definitely akin! His videos are more corny than funny, but the songs themselves are fantastic. Comical and realistic at the same time, Himmelman sure knows how to relate to this generation of kids and even manages to keep them rapt. Between his Curious World with Land of Nod stint last year, and his current "ustreams" of Furious World (which I (nerd-alert!) love to tune into!) - this guy seriously has the whole arts-scene goin' on!! Apples & Beatles

I've been so fascinated by the outcome of Beatles on iTunes, and I can't seem to get over it! I just find it so incredible that the music my parents grew up on is top-selling on iTunes today!! Am I the only one who finds this so impeccably enthralling?? Maybe it's because I grew up listening to a "Best of the Beatles" cassette tape on my walkman and felt very cool that I was enjoying the music of my parent's era, or maybe because my childhood best friend and I would put on "Beatles Shows" on the couch in her family's living room, or maybe because I thought "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was about Candy Land - either way, somehow, I'm completely inspired by the awesomeness of Apple's ability in managing to completely erase the five-decade difference between generations - bringing the Beatles on vinyl to the Beatles on iPod. Simply wondrous!

This video clip gives me chills:

Plus, this commercial makes me laugh!!

Their ad campaign has been simplistically incredible, as well. I guess their music will never really die... My husband and I sat in the second row at the broadway Rain (we loved it!!), and my 2 year old is a little die-hard Ringo Starr wannabe (and one of her favorite songs is "All you Need is Love")! Some things are simply too good to grow old...

Now if only we could reduce the parent/child generation gap in a few more ways than music. :)

P.S. I'm totally smitten by this "Beatles Ten Great Years" print from Max Dalton! How cute?? (via A Cup of Jo)
